PPKK Urged to Demolish Illegal Buildings at Gang Lalat

Citizens of Kebon Kosong Urban Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, are asking for a promised from the Kemayoran Management Center (PPKK) which would demolish illegal buildings and nightspots at Gang Lalat after Eid ul Fitr.

I hope the demolishment plan can be realized soon. I also heard that the land would be used for resort police office or General Elections Commission office in the meeting

Locals admitted they were fret with the existence of illegal buildings and nightspots in their residential. Moreover, many sex workers hung in Gang Lalat every night to find customers. Even there is also the frenetic music that also disturbs them.

"I hope the demolishment plan can be realized soon. I also heard that the land would be used for resort police office or General Elections Commission office in the meeting," told Head of Kebon Kosong Urban Village, Thursday (7/31).

Suprapto disclosed that the city administration does not have authority to control those buildings due to its authority lies in the PPKK. "This is the authority of the PPKK, because they are land owner," he expressed.

He explained there are buildings have certificate and the rest buildings are illegal. Based on the data, the number of population in Gang Lalat reaches 85 households.

"Gang Lalat is RW 04. Those 85 households are routinely paying the land and building taxes (PBB) and having land certificate," he told.

Of the 85 households, he furthered, some of them have been crowded by illegal buildings. Mostly these buildings are occupied by scavengers, peddlers, and sex workers.

Suprapto added the buildings were actually already demolished gradually in 1990 until 2010. Due to land designation was unclear, citizens back to build their buildings at the site.
